Navigating The Updates Page
Beam's product matching algorithm monitors manufacturer websites for firmware, software and security updates and notifies you when they arise. The updates page aggregates all of these updates across your inventory into one easily accessible page. In this tutorial, we'll show you how to access and navigate this page.
To access the Updates page, click on Updates in the side panel of your Beam workspace.
On the updates page you will see a list of updates that Beam's algorithm has detected, organized in tabs based on what actions have been taken on that update.
These tabs correspond to the following statuses:
New - Updates that have been detected but not acted upon
Prioritized - Updates that have been marked with a specific priority and optionally an assignee and due date
Completed - Updates that have been acted upon and completed
Dismissed - Updates that have been deemed unnecessary or unimportant.
Assigned to me - Updates, irrespective of status, that are assigned to you.
You can search for specific updates using the search bar and filter options in the top right of the page.
The filter options let you narrow down your updates by Date (i.e. the date the update was detected) and/or Source (i.e. which manufacturer issued the update)
Click on individual updates will reveal more information about the update and give you options on how to act on it.
In the update popup, you can view affected assets by clicking on the asset button.
To prioritize an update for work, click on the Prioritize button in the top right of the popup.
Doing so will open a popup where you can set the Updates priority status, assign it to a teammate, and set a due date for it.
If you deem the update unnecessary or unimportant, click on the Dismiss button to dismiss it.
