Managing Ticket Custom Fields

Beam gives you the ability to customize the fields associated with your tickets. In this tutorial, we will show you how to customize ticket fields in your workspace.

Accessing Custom Fields Setup

1. Click on Configuration in the side panel of your Beam workspace.

2. On the configuration page, click on Entity Management and then select Tickets from the list of entities.

3. Each ticket type is managed separately and can have its own set of statuses. Click on the ticket type whose statuses you want to edit.

4. On the ticket type configuration page, click on the Custom Fields tab at the top of the page

5. You will be dropped onto a page where you can view all the Custom fields associated with the selected ticket type.

Creating A Custom Field

1. Click on Add Custom Field in the top right corner of the custom fields page.

2. A field setup popup will appear. Give your field a name and description.

3. Select a field type from the Type dropdown

4. If you'd like your new field to only store unique values (i.e. no two tickets can store the same value for the given field), toggle the Unique Field setting to on.
NOTE: The select, date and checkbox fields cannot have unique values so the unique field toggle will be unselectable.

5. If you want your field to have a default value, toggle the Default Value option on and set the default value.

6. When you're satisfied with how your field is setup, click on Add to create the field.

Editing A Custom Field

1. Click on the overflow menu next to the field that you want to edit.

2. Click on Edit from the Actions menu.

4. Click on Save, when you're satisfied with your changes.

Deleting A Custom Field

1. Click on the overflow menu next to the field that you want to edit.

2. Click on Delete from the Actions menu.
